Abel Ecology Research Scholarship Grant

The Abel Ecology Research Scholarship Grant seeks to support research in ecology and management for local aquatic and/or terrestrial ecosystems. Human impacts of resource use, development and population on our life support system needs better understanding in order to provide better management of ecosystem services. Urban and agricultural contexts provide rich opportunities for exploring better stewardship of our natural environment. The award will promote research that has potential to provide better management outcomes for sustainable development.

Abel Ecology is a private consultancy specialising in ecologically sustainable development outcomes. The owner, Dr Danny Wotherspoon is a recent graduate of the University of Western Sydney (UWS), adjunct fellow of the university and a previous staff member. UWS students have done work experience with Abel Ecology and graduates have been employed by the company. The award is a response to the excellent learning and research experience that Dr Wotherspoon enjoyed as a PhD candidate.
